I am ready to scream!
Everyone thinks my office is the place to sit and shoot the bull. I'm so fed up with the same stale conversations and bigoted remarks every frickin day! I can't finish a project or task without being interrupted a dozen times a day, having to listen to them regurgitating the same old bullshit. These idiots think they are the brain-trust of the world. No one is as smart or knowledgeable as they are.
If you are educated and technically savvy, then in their eyes, you probably don't have much common sense. I've worked for these people for over 25 years and even though, time and time again, have shown them how, through using technology
The owner thinks that we'd be better off with mules, plows, pencil and paper. You don't need technology, until of course, the customer wants to see calculations and proofs you have for a design you are proposing, then he wants you use that 'demon' technology to pull their ass out the fire.
My boss will not own or carry a cell phone, complains all the time about "People and Phones", but is quick to grab your's or someone else's when the need arises.
It's a family owned business (and I'm not related), so you can't chase the idiots out.
Today, for instance, they have discussed a project (very simple) for more than three hours, involving no less than six people, dissecting the customer's request and remarks to the nth degree, remarking on how dumb the customer is and how smart we are. Instead of just sending a man to their location, with instructions to do what they want and charge them. Simple
