I like sports. That is it. I like watching, listening to, writing about it, whatever.
Mostly though, hockey is my thing.
Recently, the trade deadline came and went. After that, new contracts were signed.
That being said, the beef I have with people is taking credit for something that they had no idea about... i.e. on player being traded or being re-signed, whatever the case may be.
All day during the trade deadline people were being moved from team to team and various people were reporting it. Reporters from TSN (the ESPN of Canada), reporters from NHL.com and bloggers from the teams that were in action.
Then came the idiots...
Living in Nashville, I obviously follow the Predators. This year, we finally did something constructive at the deadline. We picked up a defenseman and a forward.
Okay, let's say for instance that the Preds make a move...that move is reported by TSN and the Preds organization. Then 3 minutes later a fan will write on their twitter account "BREAKING: SOURCE SAYS DUSTIN BOYD TO BE DEALT TO PREDS MOMENTARILY." Then....two minutes after that..same guys says..."JUST AS I CALLED IT, BOYD TO PREDS FOR A DRAFT PICK IN 2010."
That kind of stuff pisses me off so much. These hockey writers and reporters sort through rumors everyday of things that could happen, having to figure out the ones that could be true. Then some dude comes and tries to report it and make it HIS story. Sometimes, it gets ever worse though. Sometimes it ends up that other reporters steal stories from writers...
Not cool, unethical. Party Foul.
Just a reminder, you pretty much suck, get your own story.
